1.What is the minimum rental period? A. The minimum rental period is 1 day, or 24 hours.
2. Are there any extra taxes, tolls, charges or levies?
A. The rate may change, depending on applicable statutory taxes, for example, VAT where applicable. Non-residents are however, exempt from VAT. The renter is also responsible for any fines, parking fees and other charges. There is a parking fee in most major urban areas in Kenya.
3. Can the vehicle be taken of-road?
A. This depends on the vehicle hired. We have certain designated vehicle classes for this purpose. Generally, saloon vehicles can not be taken off the main roads. Certain regions are still prohibited, nevertheless.
4. Can the vehicle be taken to the neighbouring countries?
A. The renter must purchase supplemental insurance and licences from us for this purpose. Crossing the national borders is not permitted without the same. Please contact us well in advance if you have any such plans.
5. Am I fully insured?
A. We have a comprehensive insurance policy in place, but the renter shall still be liable for the payment of excess, and for other costs not covered by the policy. The renter can, at a small additional cost, purchase additional cover, to compensate for the same. Please contact us for any further questions.
6. Do you provide drivers/guides?
A. Yes, we can, but at an additional cost to the renter. This rate covers their allowances, and statutory pay, but special additional rates may apply for overtime worked.
7. Is the deposit paid refundable?
A. Yes, it is refundable, but only after our quality control staff has checked the car back in. Any damage charge, rental charges, and /or re-fuelling charges are deductible from the deposit.
8. What is the minimum age for a renter?
A. The minimum age for a renter is 21. However, those between the ages of 21 and 23 may have to pay an extra fee to cover the additional young driver's excess' under our insurance policies. The driver must have a minimum of 3 years experience.
9. Is a Foreign Driving Licence Acceptable?
A. Yes it is, but only for a period of 3 months from the date of entry into Kenya. Those intending to stay for longer periods should contact us in advance for advice on what to do. An Interim driving licence can be obtained through AA Kenya, for use for an unlimited period.
10. What do I do in case of an accident?
A. The procedures shall be outlined in the information packet provided in the vehicles. The renter must contact us immediately in the event of an accident. Never accept liability in any form whatsoever.
11. Do you have 1 way -rentals?
A. Yes, but at an additional cost to the renter. The drop-off points must be at one of our locations.
12. What other forms of identification is required?
A. We shall require copies of your PASSPORT and Drivers license.
